Well it’s been 5 years in the making since the Strathroy Lions Club came up with an idea to bring a new recreational amenity to Strathroy, and Wednesday was the culmination of it. They along with the municipality held a grand opening for the Strathroy Lions Club Disc Golf Course in Centennial Park which has technically been open for a year but made official this week and we heard from Lions Club President Dave Milliken.
The public has been using it, as he said there’s a Sunday morning league and the course will host it’s first tournament on Hometown Festival weekend and he couldn’t’ be happier.
Mayor Colin Grantham who was on hand for the ribbon cutting is very pleased with this new choice for recreation.
Ed Croft who runs the Strathroy Disc Golf League Sunday mornings says things have been going well since the start of the year.
When asked about how recreation has grown in Strathroy-Caradoc Mayor Grantham says there are many choices locally.
The plan for the course this year is to install cement tee off pads, and you can find out about the Sunday league on the Strathroy Lions Club Disc Golf page on Facebook.
