Over 18 months in the making, a brand new Middlesex Centre municipal office and renovated Community Centre in Coldstream cut the ribbon on the front doors Tuesday. An open house was held as Mayor Aina Deviet and MP Lianne Rood welcomed everyone to the new facility complete with new hallways, offices, public spaces, accessible areas and a brand new council chambers equipped with more seating capacity and upgrades in technology. Mayor Deviet says an upgrade in many ways including capacity was needed.
The project itself has expanded the office, creating new spaces for the building, engineering, and planning departments and adding a larger council chamber. The municipality also refreshed the attached Coldstream Community Centre with new windows, washrooms, floors, and paint.
Mayor Deviet says the new council chambers are a great addition.
She added this decision was about service and community.
VBG Architects did the design work and the funding was partly from municipal reserves and the building department who take care of not only Middlesex Centre but also Adelaide Metcalfe, Southwest Middlesex and North Middlesex.
