A big day this past Saturday in Strathroy as baseball day was celebrated with non-stop games with the local Strathroy Royals Minor Baseball Association. The day was highlighted by a ribbon cutting ceremony to commemorate the opening of the newly furbished hardball diamond at the York Street Complex according to Supervisor of Recreation Programs and Community Liaison for Strathroy-Caradoc Paul Lattimore.
The Municipality matched the grant plus with the full project costing approximately $260,000.
In addition, part of that was transitioning the scoreboard from Royals Field to York and Mayor Colin Grantham was on hand and talked with myFM.
Speaking of the presenting sponsor, Rocco Dicicco, District Vice President of TD Bank was also on hand saying they have partnered with Jays Care Foundation for about 15 years, and it’s been a wonderful relationship.
He went on to say it’s about community and the kids.
Lattimore added they still have some final touches to complete but overall he thinks the project hit it out of the park.
Mayor Grantham added this new look complex which also includes LED lighting for both baseball and soccer fields goes to show how progressive the community has been.
