Plenty was on the agenda for the most recent edition of Strathroy-Caradoc Council last week and one notice of motion brought forward by Councillor Brian Derbyshire was to do with based on the recent change in leadership at the Strathroy-Caradoc Fire Department, that Council dissolve the Fire Services Advisory Committee effective June 2nd, 2025. This brought on plenty of conversation as to if the committee is really needed, is an idea of the committee even valid, and if it in fact does good for the community. The topic of the Fire Services Advisory Committee itself has been on numerous council agendas since its inception and Councillor Frank Kennes did not mince words addressing that with frustration.
This did not sit lightly with Councillor Derbyshire as the debate was quickly shutdown by Mayor Grantham.
Council eventually voted to keep the advisory committee in place and active moving forward for now.
