A special weather statement has been issued for Strathroy, Komoka and Western Middlesex County as heavy rainfall and thunderstorms continue throughout the day.
Some areas could see between 40 to 60 millimetres of rain by this evening, as thunderstorms are expected to pass through the region in several rounds. The main concern is the risk of heavy downpours, which could lead to flash flooding and water pooling on roads. Low-lying areas may also experience localized flooding.
Along with the rain, other storm conditions such as strong winds, hail, and lightning could make outdoor activities unsafe. Officials are reminding everyone to stay indoors during thunderstorms. When thunder roars, go indoors. Lightning remains a serious danger and injures Canadians every year.
Residents are encouraged to keep an eye on weather alerts and stay safe as the stormy weather moves through the area.
