Last week, Strathroy-Caradoc staff recommended Council approve awarding the management and operation of concession services at the Gemini Sportsplex and West Middlesex Memorial Centre (WMMC) to Competitive Edge Sports/The Arena Poutinerie of Midland Ontario. With the current agreement now expired, a Request for Proposals (RFP) was issued. Two bids were received: one from Competitive Edge offering a fixed fee of $1,000 per month over three years, and another from Ricco Foods proposing 15% of net sales over the same term. Staff reviewed both proposals and recommended moving forward with the Midland-based operator. Councillor Sandi Hipple, says just simply based on shopping local, there is only one decision.
Director of Community Services Rob Lilbourne told council, that the tender request was done properly asking for a certain quote but one applicant did not follow that.
Councillor Steve Pelkman was in favor of going with Ricco Foods but some adjustment in service needs to be revised moving forward.
Council decided to reject staff’s recommendations and defer the issue for staff to go back to Ricco Foods to have more discussion.
