There’s not a lot of food left on the shelves at two of Strathroy’s food banks…and both have put out a call to the community to help. Michelle Helkaa, Community Employment Specialist at Youth Opportunities Unlimited in Strathroy, tells myFM what they’re looking for right now.
She runs down other items they need.
They could also use fridge staples, like milk, bread, cold meats and chicken. Food or monetary donations can be dropped off at their food bank on Front Street, across from Back Alley Burrito. Helkaa says they’re greatly appreciated, as they’re helping more than just youth these days.
We asked if she’d use the word “dire.”
Over on Beech Street, the Women’s Rural Resource Centre has also put out a call on social media, asking for donations, saying their shelves are almost bare.
