Last week at council they received a letter from Egremont Drive business Action Trailers regarding a concern about something we’ve known has been a trouble spot for years and that’s the intersection of Egremont Drive, County Road 39 into Strathroy, Woods Road and Amiens Road. Even as most recent as yesterday with another collision and road closure in that area.
Sales Associate Sebastian Herrick-Macdonald told myFM, the owner purchased the business 25 years ago and its been an issue ever since.
The letter which you can read in its entirety right here (bottom of article) was sent to three different councils to draw attention.
Ownership in the past has on several occasions communicated these concerns to all three councils and he says there’s been no response.
So myFM asked what they were looking for as possible resolutions. He said simple acknowledgment of the concerns by the County and the Municipal councils, because there are possible solutions.
At Council last week, Mayor Colin Grantham stated he had expressed these concerns to the County engineer and Councillor Frank Kennes did comment.
In the letter, Action Trailers asked for a formal traffic safety audit of this intersection, followed by the implementation of short-term improvements such as enhanced signage, flashing warning lights, and reduced speed limits. Additionally, they urged councils to prioritize long-term infrastructure upgrades; including traffic signals, a roundabout, or engineered controls to permanently improve safety. myFM did contact the County and they said that they have begun an investigation into the concerns

Letter to Council from Action Trailers
Dear Municipal Officials and County Representatives,
As a long-standing local business and member of the Strathroy-Caradoc community, Action Trailers is writing
to formally express serious concern about the dangerous intersection located directly in front of our facility at
4728 Egremont Drive.
Over the past several months, we have witnessed a disturbing number of traffic accidents and near-misses at this
location. These incidents are not isolated or infrequent; they are occurring with alarming regularity. The
situation has become out of control, and immediate attention is needed before a life-altering tragedy occurs.
This is not simply a traffic inconvenience, it is a growing public safety crisis. The constant risk at this
intersection endangers our employees, customers, and the broader community. The combination of high-speed
traffic, poor sightlines, and inadequate traffic controls makes this area unnecessarily hazardous for anyone
trying to navigate it. The lack of visibility and clear signage only adds to the confusion, especially for those
unfamiliar with the area.
As a business serving thousands of customers each year and employing local residents, we are deeply invested
in the well-being of our staff, our clients, and the community at large. Every day we see firsthand how this
dangerous intersection threatens not only safety, but also confidence in our local infrastructure.
We are urging the Municipality of Strathroy-Caradoc, Township of Adelaide Metcalfe, and Middlesex
County to take coordinated and immediate action. Specifically, we are asking for a formal traffic safety audit of
this intersection, followed by the implementation of short-term improvements such as enhanced signage,
flashing warning lights, and reduced speed limits. Additionally, we urge you to prioritize long-term
infrastructure upgrades; including traffic signals, a roundabout, or engineered controls to permanently improve
safety.
This matter is urgent. Our team is more than willing to assist by providing documentation, sharing what we’ve
observed, and participating in any community discussions or consultations. The community deserves safer
roads, and this intersection is a clear and pressing hazard that requires prompt and decisive intervention.
Thank you for your time, and for taking this matter seriously.
Sincerely,
The Team at Action Trailer
