Growing Up on the Farm, a look into local agriculture, presented by Rock Glen Resort…Cabins, Camping, and Year-Round Fun and powered by Kubota. Today we are profiling Shoreside Stables.
Shoreside Stables in Thedford has become a popular place for horseback riding and lessons along Ontario’s shoreline. Owner Shay Nejim took over the farm in 2020, re-naming it to reflect its closeness to Lake Huron and giving the business a fresh start.
The land has been in Nejim’s family for years. It once held pigs, until a fire in 2007 cleared the way for a horse barn. Nejim, who first sat on a horse at age two, grew up riding on the property and always dreamed of turning it into a full equine centre. Today her own children live on the farm, sharing the same outdoor life she enjoyed.
When the farm reopened as Shoreside Stables during the early days of COVID-19, people were eager for safe outdoor activities. Demand for riding quickly grew. The stable now runs daily trail rides almost year-round, plus a wide range of programs.
Shoreside Stables is easy to find online, just search the name to reach its website or social-media pages. Nejim says anyone curious about horses is welcome.
