With a very hot, dry July now in the rearview mirror, we’re seeing August start the same way. Environment Canada Senior Climatologist Dave Phillips says it’s deja vu.
Phillips says the positive in all of this is that there hasn’t been much severe weather, including tornadoes.
As of late, smoke in the air is something that’s been seen across Ontario – regardless of location. Phillips says that’s because this is one of the worst years for wildfires to our west…and now east as well.
Overall, Phillips says a wet spring followed by a dry summer hasn’t been the worst for crops throughout Ontario, but he adds some more rain now would definitely help.
