It’s the final weekend for the downtown summer market in Strathroy. The small team from the Municipality that’s been running it will soon provide council with a report with different options and a recommendation for them to review concerning its future direction. Even though the night markets this year have been very successful, the Saturday day markets are another story as the town who runs the event lost several produce vendors this year, disappointing market goers.
Former Market Manager Kim Schlegel has been getting a lot of informal feedback about the market and recommendations on social media.
Schlegel says atmosphere is also important to people.
And Schlegel envisions taking the food options to the next level at the market.
Schlegel points out her feedback gathered through social media was informal.
And she didn’t limit her information gathering to just social media.
A market isn’t easy to run, especially given the obstacles the town was up against this season. And now a report will be compiled and sent to town council.
myFM reached out to Strathroy-Caradoc to which organizers said their report to council will have options and a recommendation for them to review. Once decisions are made, they say, they’d be happy to comment on the situation.
