Nearly a decade after the death of 15-month-old Nathaniel McLellan, the manslaughter trial of his former babysitter is about to begin. Strathroy’s Meggin Van Hoof was charged by the OPP following a lengthy investigation that initially examined Nathaniel’s parents, Rose-Anne Van De Weile and Kent McLellan.
The trial is scheduled to start today at a London courthouse and is expected to run between four and six weeks. Nathaniel collapsed on October 27th, 2015, while in Van Hoof’s care at her unlicensed daycare in Strathroy, where she was looking after several children.
