Environment Canada is forecasting possible thunderstorms this afternoon and evening, with the potential for heavy downpours delivering up to 100 mm of rain in localized areas.
While the most intense rainfall is expected south of the watershed, particularly around Chatham, communities such as Wallaceburg, Dresden, and Glencoe could still be affected if storm tracks shift north. Intense rainfall over short periods may cause flash flooding, increased runoff, and ponding in low-lying or poorly drained areas.
Rising water levels could push flows into natural floodplains, affecting roads and properties prone to flooding. The public is urged to stay clear of watercourses, flooded areas, and slippery banks, as fast-moving water poses serious safety risks. Children and pets should be kept away from these areas.
The Conservation Authority will continue monitoring conditions and provide updates to municipalities and media as needed. This advisory remains in effect until noon on September 26, 2025, unless otherwise revised.
