One of the ways the National Day of Truth and Reconciliation will be marked locally is with a special event Saturday at the St. Vincent de Paul Economy Shop in Strathroy. myFM sat down with Store Operations Manager Julie Clements.
For many years Mary Lou and her late husband Dan hosted the Indigenous radio program, Smoke Signals and brought their message to many different audiences.
This is the second year the Economy Shop is hosting this gathering, after a successful and emotional 2024 event.
Part of the day is also showing support for the Indigenous artists and vendors who will be on hand selling hand made bracelets, hats, mini drums, moccasins, candles and much more. Doors open at 9:30am, Indian Tacos are served at 11:30 and Mary Lou Smoke will speak at 1.
