This week marked a significant step forward in the Middlesex Hospital Alliance’s ongoing journey toward Truth and Reconciliation. A series of initiatives are highlighting the Alliance’s commitment to honouring Indigenous communities and taking meaningful action to support reconciliation. President and CEO of the Middlesex Hospital Alliance Julie McBrien tells myFM the auditorium at Strathroy Middlesex General Hospital has been renamed the Anthony “Dudley” George Gathering Space.
This dedication honours the memory of Dudley George, who was brought to SMGH by his siblings after being shot during the Ipperwash conflict.
To further commemorate his life and legacy, a mural was unveiled, created by Kettle Point artist Jeffery “Red” George.
