As myFM informed you last week, Strathroy-Caradoc Council has asked the Traffic Committee to look at creating a potential by-law regarding community e-scooters, as Police Chief Mark Campbell has said there have been numerous concerns sent to Police by community members.
Those concerns for the most part regarding safety on roads and sidewalks when scooters are being used. Chief Campbell laid the law out there regarding these scooters for myFM.
He went on to clarify that statement focusing on how the scooters get policed in relation to a cyclist.
Chief Campbell also wanted to clear up any misconceptions regarding youth under 16 being sent to court.
And he added that this is strickly by the book and not some Police initiative focused solely on sending scooter operators to court.
Chief Campbell added that the Police are part of a community safety and well being plan, as well as a strategic plan with the Police and Municipality, which all of them highlight that road safety is a primary issue for this community. You can hear the entire interview with Chief Campbell here.
