Stacey O’Brien, Deputy Director of the Special Investigations Unit (SIU), has concluded and closed an investigation into the reported injury of a 24-year-old man arrested by Strathroy-Caradoc Police Service officers last month.
On September 2, 2025, police responded to a call from the man’s mother, who requested assistance for her son experiencing a mental health crisis. During the interaction, the man resisted officers’ attempts to handcuff him for transport to the hospital. Officers brought him to the ground, secured him in handcuffs, and transported him for medical evaluation.
Medical staff determined that the man had sustained soft tissue injuries and a possible acromioclavicular (AC) joint separation. As these injuries did not meet the threshold of a “serious injury” under the SIU’s statutory mandate, Director O’Brien determined there were no grounds for further investigation, and the case has been formally closed.
