Just over a week after the fire at the old Scoops Variety store and Strathroy-Caradoc police and fire investigators continue to probe what caused the fire. Police have determined the cause was in fact arson. Strathroy-Caradoc Police Constable Katherine Lockwood says they are looking to the public for help.
Deputy Fire Chief Stephanie Cyros wanted to commend the volunteer firefighters for their quick action in knocking the early morning fire down so quickly, keeping it from spreading.

She says the attention to detail by firefighters is second to none.
The only thing still standing at the fire site is the wall with the Guardian Angel mural on it, and she’s not sure what’s going to happen to that.
Cyros says there’s also no firm damage estimate yet.
