The Middlesex County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have begun equipping officers with body-worn cameras (BWCs).
The OPP is committed to adopting tools and technologies that strengthen evidence collection, improve transparency and accountability, and enhance safety for both officers and the public across Middlesex County.
Following the successful implementation of in-car cameras (ICCs) featuring Automated Licence Plate Recognition (ALPR) technology, the Middlesex OPP—along with other detachments in the West Region—are now moving forward with issuing BWCs to all frontline officers.
The cameras are secured to the front of an officer’s vest and remain clearly visible during interactions with the public. When in standby mode, the device displays a green ring with flashing lights. Once recording begins, the indicator switches to a flashing red light.
Full deployment of BWCs in Middlesex County will occur as soon as operationally feasible, with trained officers beginning to use the devices immediately.
