A discussion that started well over 12 years ago, was approved back in 2022 in the first year of this current Strathroy-Caradoc Council and on Monday came to fruition as the new Fire Station #1 in Strathroy had its official grand opening. Strathroy-Caradoc Fire Chief Stephen Beazley and the fire services hosted guests, members of the fire department, the Ontario Fire Marshall’s office, our MPP and MP along with the majority of Council.
Councillor John Brennan was asked to comment on the long journey this project took from initial conversation to the cutting of the ribbon.

Brennan says it doesn’t matter, if it a new fire station, and new police station, a new wastewater treatment facility, it’s always hard to make the tough decisions to get things done, and it only gets more expensive when you put it off.

Chris Fortner Station #1 Captain and a local firefighter for just over 15 years, says the new home looks pretty good.
myFM asked Fortner to elaborate on the comment of what they needed to have.

Brennan says the Station #1 renovation was paramount and the upgrades to local fire services isn’t done yet.
Overall Brennan was impressed with the new facility and wished that those of our fire services community who have passed on were able to see this.
Speakers at the event included the Ontario Fire Marshall, Mayor Grantham, MP Rood and MPP Pinsonneault.
