Mount Brydges is experiencing significant population growth, and continued expansion is expected to exceed the capacity of the existing Mount Brydges Wastewater Treatment Facility (WWTF). As a result, additional wastewater treatment capacity is required to support both current needs and future development.
To address these challenges, a Municipal Class Environmental Assessment (Class EA) is being undertaken to plan for growth and wastewater servicing requirements through to the year 2046. The study will also consider the future connection of homes that currently rely on private septic systems to the municipal sewer system.
The Class EA will evaluate a range of options for future wastewater servicing, including the expansion of the existing Mount Brydges WWTF, the construction of a new wastewater treatment facility, or the pumping of wastewater to nearby treatment plants.
This project is being completed as a Schedule āCā Class EA in accordance with the Ontario Environmental Assessment Act. Public consultation is a key component of the process, with input sought from residents, Indigenous Nations, technical agencies, and other stakeholders. Four Public Information Centres (PICs) are planned throughout the study to present potential solutions, gather feedback, and provide opportunities for the community to discuss comments and concerns directly with the project team.
