The Province of Ontario is investing in the future of Strathroy’s water and wastewater infrastructure through significant funding support. On Friday afternoon of last week, it was announced that Strathroy-Caradoc has been awarded $15,025,118 in provincial grant funding through the Municipal Housing and Infrastructure Program’s Health and Safety Water Stream.
Director of Engineering and Public Works, Mark Ortiz told myFM what the funding means to the municipality.
MPP for Lambton-Kent-Middlesex Steve Pinsonneault says the funding will support major upgrades to the Strathroy Water and Wastewater Treatment Facility.
Ortiz went on to say that these improvements are essential to meeting the needs of a growing community, enhancing operational efficiency, and ensuring the continued protection of public health and safety.
As for the cost of the project as a whole, Ortiz says that is yet to be determined.
Pinsonneault says it’s important to take care of the municipalities within his riding.
“The Municipality of Strathroy-Caradoc extends its appreciation to the Ontario Government for their continued partnership and investment in the future of water wastewater treatment in Strathroy and throughout our Municipality,” said Mayor Colin Grantham.
