The federal government’s Assault-Style Firearm Compensation Program entered its national declaration period on January 19, 2026.
Consistent with the approach adopted by many police services across Canada, the Strathroy-Caradoc Police Service is not participating in this program and will not be involved in the collection of firearms. The program is administered federally, and local police service participation is not required.
The Strathroy-Caradoc Police Service will continue to focus its resources on front-line community policing, crime prevention, victim support, and initiatives that enhance public safety. These priorities remain essential to maintaining the well-being of the community. The Service will also continue to work collaboratively with law-enforcement and government partners to support shared public-safety objectives.
