The Grand Bend Winter Carnival is making a comeback this week after being away for more than a decade. The event has not been held since around 2012, but local businesses decided this was the right year to bring it back.
Stu Saunders, coordinator of the Carnival, says events like this are important for building strong communities.
The return of the carnival also lines up with a special milestone. This year marks about 40 years since the first Winter Carnival was held in Grand Bend back in 1986. Saunders told myFM why he decided to step up and help lead the event.
The Grand Bend Winter Carnival will take place Friday evening, all day Saturday, and Sunday. There will be a variety of activities planned, with something for people of all ages to enjoy.
One highlight Saunders is especially excited about is a children’s event on Saturday afternoon.
Saunders is encouraging everyone to come out, enjoy the winter fun, and help celebrate the return of a beloved community event.
