Strathroy Hospice visited Strathroy-Caradoc Council last week for an update. They reported that they have been working with the town on securing the property that is being donated by a family that wants to fulfill a dream of their late husband/son who wanted to build a hospice on his land. During the month of December, Strathroy Hospice received over $32,000 from individuals from the community.
At Council the group requested that the Municipality provide financial support to help cover the municipal fees associated with the intended land development and incoming rezoning totaling approximately $34,600 and the additional development fees of approximately $30,125. Councillor Steve Pelkman made a motion that was approved by Council to have staff look at some options to help the Strathroy Hospice group as they move forward incurring some of the pre-development municipal costs.
Hospice vision:
•8,000 ft² facility designed for comfort and serenity
•Private family rooms, welcoming common spaces, reflective gardens and access paths to a beautiful pond.
•An atmosphere of care, compassion, and respect
•Rooted in Strathroy-Caradoc’s values of community, connection, and dignity
•Providing physical, emotional, and spiritual support and not just medical care
•Open and inclusive to all, ensuring comfort and accessibility for every individual
•A long-term investment that will serve generations of families as a legacy of compassion
