Strathroy Hospice for the second meeting in a row with hit Strathroy-Caradoc Council’s agenda table tonight, as the organization will look to obtain a zoning amendment for a Walkers Road property just outside Strathroy. The donated farm site, which includes mature trees and a pond, is being promoted as an ideal location for a much-needed end-of-life care facility.
Before construction can move forward, the land must be rezoned from its current designation to institutional use. If council grants approval, organizers plan to begin showcasing the property to the community to build further support and demonstrate what the finished hospice would look like. Organizers estimate $5 million is required before construction can begin, and no opening date has been set. Council begins at 6pm tonight.
