Emergency Department volumes remain high at both Strathroy Middlesex General Hospital and Four Counties Health Services in Newbury but there may be some light at the end of the tunnel. Both facilities are at 100% capacity or more every day, according to Krista Shea, Chief Nursing Officer and VP of Clinical Services for Middlesex Hospital Alliance.
Shea says they’ve been increasingly busy over the last number of years.
Some of that is likely due to patients from outside the area coming here for treatment.
The good news is, respiratory illnesses are starting to trail off a bit.
But Shea says winter isn’t over yet and with March Break coming up, people need to exercise caution if they don’t want to get sick or make others sick.
Shea says people can also connect to health care 24/7 online under health811 at Government of Ontario | ontario.ca
