The Strathroy Rockets are getting ready for the opening round of the playoffs in the Greater Ontario Hockey League Western Conference. The Rockets, the 6th seed will face the 3rd seeded St. Marys Lincolns, and Head Coach Matt Bowes says he is proud of how the players came together and worked hard this season.
Bowes says the team’s effort may have surprised some opponents, adding that several players picked up before the trade deadline also made a big difference for the team. The Rockets had some success against St. Marys during the regular season, but Bowes says the Lincolns are still a strong opponent and the series will be a tough test.
Bowes noted special teams will play a big role in the matchup.
The schedule will also make the series challenging, with the first four games being played over five nights.
He also praised the support the team has received from fans this season.
Game one of the series will be played tomorrow night in St. Marys, while game two will take place Saturday night at the West Middlesex Memorial Centre in Strathroy. Puck drop is set for 7:30pm.
