When the Academy Awards air Sunday night, Nelson Ferreira, who grew up in Strathroy, will be on the edge of his seat at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood. Ferreira and his sound team have been nominated for an Oscar in the Best Sound category for Frankenstein.
He tells myFM, he’s been in this position before, for The Shape of Water.
And while The Shape of Water won for Best Picture in 2018, Ferreira and his team went home empty-handed.
Ferreira expands on how he got into the film biz, after growing up in Strathroy.
He says Strathroy has always been near and dear to his heart.
As for the movie Frankenstein itself, he says it was amazing to watch the development.
