The Ontario government is investing $5 million through the Community Emergency Preparedness Grant (CEPG) to empower local communities to build their emergency response capabilities. The province is awarding up to $50,000 to 115 recipients to purchase emergency preparedness supplies, equipment and services, delivering on its plan to protect Ontario communities and improve resiliency in the face of emergencies and natural disasters.
The CEPG supports small- to medium-sized municipalities, local services boards, First Nations communities, Tribal Councils and Indigenous service organizations. Since the program launched in 2023, the province has invested $15 million to provide 342 recipients with grants.
In our area, Southwest Middlesex will receive $48,920 for the purchase of a generator for their emergency operations centre to enable faster and more coordinated emergency responses, and ensure community members can access power during outages.
