As communities across Canada mark Volunteer Appreciation Week, Strathroy-Caradoc Mayor Colin Grantham is taking time to recognize the many volunteers who help keep the community running.
From local service groups and churches to minor sports, hospitals, and community programs, he says volunteers are often the people working behind the scenes to make sure things happen.
He adds that their efforts help keep Strathroy-Caradoc strong, connected, and welcoming. While many people lead busy lives, Grantham says volunteering does not have to take up a lot of time. Even a few hours here and there can make a big difference.
Grantham also says volunteering is not only good for the community, but also for the person doing it. He notes that helping others can bring a sense of pride and purpose, and people should feel good about the role they play.
With strong support from residents, Grantham believes the spirit of volunteerism remains alive and well in Strathroy-Caradoc. He encourages anyone who is able to get involved, reminding people that every effort, big or small, helps build a stronger community.
