The community in Strathroy-Caradoc came together in a big way to support a local food bank in need. Youth Opportunities Unlimited (Y.O.U.) in Strathroy made an urgent call for donations as their shelves were running low, and in response, residents stepped up to help during a food drive hosted by myFM Monday at the Real Canadian Superstore from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
By the end of the day, enough food had been collected to help keep shelves stocked until nearly Thanksgiving, according to Y.O.U. staff. Close to $2,000 was also raised through cash and gift card donations. Local businesses also played a big role in the effort. CSN High Street Auto Body delivered three truckloads of donations, and the trailer from Corbel Renovations was filled by the end of the day.
A huge thank you to our Broadcast partner KYIS Embroidery and shopping list sponsor McLeod Water Wells for their support.
Y.O.U. says the outpouring of generosity shows just how strong the community is, with residents and businesses coming together to help make sure no one goes without.
