Now time for our daily look at Mental Health Week in Canada – presented by: Coven House Tattoo.
The halls and rooms of Strathroy Middlesex General Hospital and Four Counties Health Services in Newbury are filled every day with caring doctors and nurses, x-ray technicians, housekeeping and kitchen staff and many others. But what isn’t seen is the mental health suffering many of them face on a regular basis.
Caring for and treating people on their worst days can take a toll on even the strongest individuals. myFM spoke with Chief Nursing Officer with the Middlesex Hospital Alliance, Krista Shea (shay) who tells us there is mental health help for all.
Shea says they also have a well-being program at both hospital sites.
Being a smaller, tight knit group is also helpful when it comes to trying to keep a positive outlook in difficult situations.
Shea says she’s seen supports for mental health issues come a long way in her decades in the health care field, and in recent times, TV shows like The Pitt are incredibly accurate in pegging down the situations health care staff face and the mental health struggles they carry with them.
Listen tomorrow for another local mental health feature here on myFM.
