As we inch closer to a big decision from Strathroy-Caradoc council on the future location of the Strathroy Hospice, two delegations spoke to council at Monday night’s meeting, both against the proposed county location. Jonathan Janssens lives near the proposed site on Walker’s Drive between Strathroy and Mount Brydges and says council must vote against the site under the provincial policy statement.
Janssens touches on the long term risks of having a hospice far out in the county.
He also outlined how a hospice would hamper agricultural uses.
Fellow neighbour Mark Erye (air) told council there’s no question about the support for the hospice.
Chair of the Strathroy Hospice Tyler Damen has told myFM despite bumps along the path, he and his group will bring a hospice to our community.
Town CAO Rob Browning says an information report will come to Council on May 19th. Depending on any comments from Council, staff are targeting June 15 for the report for Council’s approval or denial.
