A busy baseball season is about to get underway in Strathroy-Caradoc and council just approved close to $100,000 to make some improvements at Yorkview Community Park. At Monday night’s meeting, they approved the tender for FILD Group of Mississauga for just over $87,000 for a new backstop and outfield fence at diamond #2, which faces the Parkview Court residential area and is the only diamond with no fence currently at that facility plus a $13,000 contingency for the project.
It’s work that’s been talked about for a couple years now with issues like fly balls heading out of the ballpark. Director of Community Services, Rob Lilbourne explains the specifics.
Ward 2 Councillor Greg Willsie was pleased to see the lowest tender approved for the work.
Strathroy Minor Baseball starts next week.
