A staff report requested by Strathroy-Caradoc council outlining the condition of the old senior’s centre at 137 Frank Street, resulted in a new motion by the Deputy Mayor due to concerns about the integrity of the building. Council has already approved plans to relocate customer service from town hall to 137 Frank, but Mike McGuire this week cited an engineering report done several years ago as a main reason to get more information.
Which led McGuire to his new motion.
McGuire says safety is paramount, getting a quick seconding of the motion by the Mayor and the rest of council.
Councillor Brian Derbyshire maintains the old senior’s centre could become a financial burden, again cautioning council to tread carefully.
The motion to get another look by an engineering firm passed and council hopes for an update June 15th.
