Residents in Strathroy are invited to take part in an upcoming walk supporting the Lions Foundation of Canada Dog Guides program.
The Pet Valu Walk for Dog Guides will be held on May 31, 2026, at Alexandra Park in Strathroy. Registration begins at 12:30 p.m., with the walk starting at 1:00 p.m.
The event is organized by the Strathroy Lions Club and aims to raise funds to help provide specially trained Dog Guides to Canadians living with disabilities. These dogs help people with daily tasks, mobility, and safety, giving them more independence and confidence.
Organizers say funds raised through the walk will support the Lions Foundation of Canada Dog Guides program, which provides Dog Guides at no cost to recipients and supports each pair through training and ongoing care.
So far, the local campaign has raised just over $4,200 toward a $10,000 goal.
People can take part in the walk or support the cause through donations. Organizers say every contribution helps more Canadians gain access to a trained Dog Guide and the support that comes with it.
