It’s time for our daily ANIMAL HOUSE SHOWCASE feature, today, with Tasha Hebert, Community and Family Services Support Worker with the Salvation Army in Strathroy.
The Salvation Army couldn’t be happier to welcome a new pet program to town, No Empty Bowls.
It’s a pet food bank that the Humane Society started in London that is now branching out to our area.
The first day was actually this past Monday.
Hebert says the Salvation Army will pick up supplies from London once a month and hand out both dog and cat food to individuals who need it, once a month.
The food will be given out in 5 pound bags.
Hebert says they’re so happy to be able to provide this service as people have asked about it in the past and they’d never want anyone to have to give up a beloved pet because they can’t afford to feed them.
The Salvation Army asks that people call ahead and book an appointment to pick up pet food, just like they do for the “people” food bank.
The number is 519-245-5398.
