The Ontario government is investing 1.7 billion dollars to add 70-thousand new post-secondary seats in high-demand sectors across the province.
The funding will support programs in health care, STEM, education and skilled trades at publicly assisted colleges and universities.
Ontario says the investment is part of its new 6.4 billion dollar post-secondary funding model aimed at building a stronger and more resilient workforce.
Officials say colleges and universities will work with local employers to ensure the expanded seats align with labour market needs, with the first new spaces expected to open in the fall of 2026.
