Strathroy-Caradoc council has decided the challenges outweigh the benefits and has decided not to opt into the province’s BYOB framework at summer events like festivals and concerts. By doing so, people basically aren’t allowed to bring their own booze to these events.
Councillor Steve Pelkman commented on the issue at council earlier this week.
The province introduced the BYO framework recently, but allowed municipalities to make their own decisions as to whether to allow bring your own booze at these events or not.
Pelkman obviously isn’t a fan of the province’s proposal.
Town staff also pointed out that at this time, they’re not aware of any demand from local event organizers to adopt the bring your own booze framework.
