It’s been almost 20 years since Patricia Van Omen Cuddy, the widow of the late Mac Cuddy, donated their Strathroy home and the beautiful property it sits on, Cuddy Gardens, to Fanshawe College. Since then, the gardens they loved are thriving under the constant care of students in the Horticulture Technology Program at Fanshawe.
myFM caught up with some of the students, like 1st Year Keegan Ellis during the garden our over the weekend who tells us about the roots of his love for horticulture.
Keegan says being able to work at Cuddy is pretty special.
Noah Hurtubis is also in the 1st Year of the program and is one of the 4 students who will spend the whole summer working at Cuddy. He says the learning is as special as the place.
And for Noah, the program is much more to him than just schooling.
The beautiful 5 acre site at Cuddy only opens to the public once a year, during the Garden Tour which just happened over the weekend.
