A new event is rolling into Strathroy as part of this year’s Hometown Festival celebrations.
The first-ever Hometown Festival Bike Parade will take place on Saturday, June 20th in downtown Strathroy. Booking and Events Coordinator Kait Topham says the event was created after the annual bike rodeo took a break this year.
The parade will start at 11 a.m. and travel through the downtown market area along Frank Street and Front Street.
This year’s theme is “Safari on Spokes,” and participants are encouraged to decorate their bikes with wild animal-inspired designs.
The event is open to all ages, with judging divided into different age categories. There is no cost to participate. Riders who want to be eligible for prizes must register between 10 a.m. and 10:30 a.m., but anyone can join the parade.
Topham notes there is one rule for people wanting to take part in the parade.
The bike parade is a partnership between the Downtown Strathroy Market, Mainstreet Credit Union, Doug and Marion’s Bike Sales and Repairs, and the Hometown Festival Committee.
Topham is encouraging families to bring their bikes, get creative with decorations, and take part in the new community event.
