A new cultural festival is coming to Grand Bend this weekend, bringing Jamaican food, music, entertainment, and family fun to the community. JamFest will take place on July 11th from 1 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Klondyke Sports Park, located just minutes from Grand Bend’s beach area.
Organizer Talissa Watson says the event was inspired by her Jamaican heritage and a desire to share Caribbean culture with the local community.
Watson told myFM what visitors can expect from JamFest.
Entertainment including performances by local musicians, a DJ, and a Juno Award-winning reggae artist. There will also be food vendors serving Jamaican cuisine, and prizes from local businesses.
Watson says the goal is to create an authentic Caribbean atmosphere while giving residents and visitors a chance to experience Jamaican culture close to home.
Tickets are available now through the festival website. General admission tickets are $35 in advance, while VIP tickets are $55 and include a food voucher. Children under six years old can attend for free.
Watson hopes visitors take away an important message from the fest.
JamFest is also looking for volunteers to help with the event. More information, tickets, and volunteer registration can be found at the festival website.
