At its most recent council meeting, members approved adding two parcels of land to the Mount Brydges settlement area expansion – 8524 Falconbridge Drive and additional land with the Slegers property at 751 Thomas Street – basically approving those areas for future development.
Councillor John Brennan was concerned about the addition.
Councillor Frank Kennes also voiced concerns and frustration with the whole process.
Councillor Hipple also felt local councillors likely weren’t the best people to be making these decisions.
Deputy Mayor Mike McGuire wasn’t concerned about adding more land to the Mount Brydges settlement area if it made sense the way he felt these two properties did.
Mayor Colin Grantham expressed much frustration with the process as well, in a social media post, saying no member of council has liked this process for settlement area expansions but it’s one more example of the province forcing them to make these types of decisions.
