The OPP is reminding drivers that a safe Civic holiday long weekend starts with making smart choices behind the wheel. Police say last year’s holiday weekend saw more than 3,500 speeding charges, over 500 seatbelt offences, 77 distracted driving charges and 204 impaired driving charges, along with nine traffic fatalities.
Drivers are also being reminded to slow down and move over for emergency vehicles stopped at the roadside. OPP are reminding drivers that each decision made behind the wheel can help protect lives, and keep Ontario’s roads safe for everyone.
