No decisions have been made yet by Strathroy-Caradoc council regarding the future use of the land at 384 Metcalfe Street East. Dozens of residents attended a public meeting last week in council chambers, to share their concerns about a developer’s proposal to have a 47 unit complex on the site, along with a parking garage…a move that would require rezoning from the current R1-low density residential to R3-high density.
Here’s what some of them were saying.
Most residents were quick to point out they’re in favour of more housing in town, just not high density in this area.
Several members of council indicated possibly exploring an R2 re-zoning of lower density in the future but for now, no decisions have been made.
