The Ontario Provincial Police and Strathroy-Caradoc Police Service are teaming up today for the annual Law Enforcement Torch Run in support of Special Olympics Ontario.
Beginning at 11 a.m., police officers and staff will join local Special Olympians for the run, helping raise money, awareness and support for Special Olympics athletes across the province.
The Torch Run will begin at the OPP detachment before heading south on Highway 81, then west along Front Street, south on Thomas Street, east on Metcalfe Street and south on Caradoc Street before finishing at the Strathroy-Caradoc Police Service.
The run will be police escorted and motorists should expect temporary traffic delays along the route. Drivers are being asked to plan ahead, be patient and give the runners plenty of room as they make their way through the community.
The Law Enforcement Torch Run is held annually across Ontario and brings police and Special Olympics athletes together to promote inclusion, awareness and support for people with intellectual disabilities.
