Mark Eyre is running for the position of Deputy Mayor in Strathroy-Caradoc this fall. He has no political experience and his name has never appeared on an election ballot.
He tells Strathroy Today he believes his engineering and business background make him well suited for the job of leading and governance.
Asked why as a novice politico he chose to run for a high profile position like Deputy Mayor – Eyre says he wants a seat at County Council in order to have a bigger impact at the municipal level.
Eyre says he believes his on-the-job experience makes him an ideal candidate for Deputy Mayor and helping to manage Strathroy-Caradoc’s assets.
Eyre says he doesn’t think council or staff have done a bad job – but they can do a better job with the right leadership. Case in point says Eyre – complaints he’s heard about aging infrastructure.
Eyre’s says his campaign platform also addresses what he calls transparency issues.
Admitting his name isn’t known on the political stage, Eyre says he’s working hard to change that.
