In a world that revolves around technology, learning how to stay safe online is more important than ever, especially for children.
Middlesex County Library is inviting parents and children to take part in a hands-on workshop at the Komoka Library to learn more about online privacy and video games.
The workshop takes place Thursday, October 29th, from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Researchers from Western University and the University of Waterloo will lead activities to help families understand how video games can influence the choices people make about their personal information.
Participants will explore how game designs may encourage players to share details about themselves, including when interacting with in-game characters.
The goal is to help children and parents better understand the risks and learn ways to protect personal information while gaming online.
With children spending more time using technology, the workshop offers families a chance to ask questions, learn together and build safer online habits.
The event is being held at the Komoka Library, located at 1 Tunks Lane. Registration is required and can be completed through the Middlesex County Library website.
