Strathroy Pride is bringing parents and caregivers together for a panel discussion on supporting LGBTQ+ youth in rural communities.
The event, scheduled for Tuesday, Oct. 20th, will feature local parents sharing their experiences raising queer youth, along with a counsellor from Blueprint Counseling.
Director Frank Emanuele said the discussion aims to help adults better understand the challenges young people face.
The event is part of a series organized in partnership with Strathroy Library and Middlesex County Libraries.
Emanuele said the panel is open to anyone who supports LGBTQ+ youth, including teachers, grandparents, relatives and community members. A counsellor will help guide the conversation and offer advice.
Strathroy Pride hopes the discussion will help young people feel accepted and safe in their communities, rather than feeling they must move to larger cities to find support.
Seating is limited, and advance registration is encouraged at strathroypride.org/events.
